5 Smart Beauty Tips Using Baking Soda

Smart Beauty Tips Using Baking Soda

Baking soda has been used for generations in the heart of the home: the kitchen. However, not known to many, baking soda also has super powers in the beauty world. In fact, it has countless practical beauty uses that will help transform your look.

Here are five uses - helping you better use this amazing white powder in your beauty regimen.

#1 Clarifying Shampoo

If your scalp is dry and itchy, or if you use a lot of hair products (especially dry shampoos), then your scalp needs an exfoliating treatment. Simply add a small amount of baking soda into your shampoo, and wash as you normally would. This will help clear out any build-up, while giving your scalp and hair a much needed refreshing boost!

#2 Teeth Whitening

Baking soda is proven to whiten teeth. A recommended recipe is: 1 tablespoon of baking soda, 5 drops of hydrogen peroxide, and several drops of water mixed together in a small container. The mixture should be mixed until a consistent paste develops. Thereafter, apply the paste to your teeth and allow to sit for 5 minutes. Brush the paste off with your regular toothpaste, followed by a good mouth rinse. Note: don’t leave the paste on for more than 10 minutes - as the mixture may affect your teeth sensitivity.

#3 Deodorant

Baking soda is a great and natural deodorant! Mix baking soda with a small amount of water, which should produce a moist paste that is not runny. Apply to underarms in order to stop those unwanted odors and embarrassing stains! Note: if you add cornstarch to the paste, you will produce an even more effective deodorant!

#4 Super Exfoliant

For acne prone or oily skin, baking soda works wonders as a natural exfoliant! Mix a small amount of baking soda in your hand, and very gently scrub in a circular pattern on your skin - where needed. This will remove dead skin cells - revealing fresh and glowing skin.

#5 Detoxifying Bath

A full body exfoliation in a bath is a great way to clean deep inside pores. Depending on the water volume in your bath, mix equal parts of baking soda, sea salt and your favorite essential oil in order to enjoy a relaxing, yet, effective full-body cleanse. Lay in the water for at least 20 minutes.

Over to you!

Baking soda is an amazing beautifying tool, and its applications are limitless and highly effective. This simple white powder has many practical uses in order to help you look your best from head to toe!
